Grampound Road Village Hall, Grampound Road, Near TruroWe worked with Community Energy Plus www.cep.org.uk to improve the thermal insulation of Grampound Road Village Hall, Truro, Cornwall, a lovely old building used extensively by the community. Our promise to CEP and the community of Grampound Road was to carry out the work during the summer holidays and have the building ready for use before the playgroup returned at the beginning of the autumn term. The building was not suitable for the application of an exterior system, so we used an internal system appropriate for the building, the needs of the users of the village hall and in-keeping with the building itself. We dry lined the exterior walls requiring us to remove and reinstate the kitchen, wall and ceiling mounted electrical installations and items central to the building such as plaques and commemorative memorabilia. In addition, we insulated the roof and decorated throughout. The end result was that you wouldn’t know we’d been there, except that the building was much warmer, brighter, clean and ready for occupation. We were thanked for the efforts we made and our consideration for the needs of the community by working according to the timetable agreed and leaving the building clean and ready for use. |

The Mill, Near Newton AbbotCurrently working on an interesting energy saving project, an old mill now used as private residence, work includes: external wall insulation, hot pipes in walls and associated building work. This interesting project demonstrates how our years of experience and diverse skills can be encompassed in one venture. Phase 1 of the scheme is to make the property energy efficient, making use of solar power and applying external wall insulation to the thick stone walls using Wetherby 200mm thick eps with a textured silicone finish. Part of the project has required the installation of heating pipes to the external wall, placed under the external wall insulation, to act as a large heating element powered by solar energy. This design required a great deal of forethought and planning. In addition we have laid a new slate roof to the west and east elevations, renewed the barge boards and fixed insulation over the tops of the walls and inside the roof space. New triple glazed windows and doors have been installed. Throughout the work, we have liaised closely with the owners of the property and designer of the scheme in order to achieve the best possible results. |

Finsbury Park, London – completedThis project provided us with development and investment opportunities. The company purchased a typical three storey London terraced property and gained planning permission to divide it into a ground floor garden flat, with a three bedroom maisonette over. The work was hard, access was difficult and the operational areas very confined. Working closely with architects and local building inspectors, we completely remodelled the building into two separate units. The end result was a superb modern ground floor flat with garden, that sold quickly and we retained the maisonette as a letting property, giving us the opportunity to invest in a solid asset. For this project we used a mix of our skilled workforce from Devon and local North London sub-contractors. |

Currently nearing completion, this smart detached office suite provides modern accommodation, ideal for a small business. The property has been designed to achieve long term, low running costs with an air source heat pump for heating and cooling. The stone used in the design of the building came from nearby Callywith Quarry and the windows were made locally. When complete, the office suite will be offered for rent on an internal repairing only lease. |
